One day children were brought to Jesus in the hope that he would lay hands on them and pray over them. The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus intervened: “Let the children alone, don’t prevent them from coming to me. God’s kingdom is made up of people like these.” After laying hands on them, he left. Matthew 19:13-15 MSG
The other evening, I was out walking around our neighborhood. As I came to the end of a street, I saw my friend standing outside holding one of her grandkids. The little baby’s face lit up when he saw me he began blowing me kisses and giggling. A huge smile lighting up his face. I couldn’t help but smile back at him my heart overflowing.
Here is the thing, I’ve never seen this adorable child before in my life. But he greeted me with joy bubbling up from inside that he then shared through his kisses.
To me, this sweet little child who shared his joy is exactly what Jesus is talking about when He says God’s Kingdom is made up of people like these.
Kids are equal opportunity joy sharers. It doesn’t matter what a person looks like, what job they have, how much money they make or don’t make, if they have a fancy car or clothes. Kids just blow you a kiss because they have joy in their hearts that they want to share.
As children of God, we should find it irresistible to share the joy Jesus has put in our hearts. We should want everyone to know His love, mercy, peace, and joy.
Today, let’s try be more like little children sharing the joy in our hearts.
Until next time blessings and healing
