Acts 16:25-40 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose. (vv.25–26)

It’s not a far stretch for me to picture myself in a prison cell. I was a prisoner to my past for years. I was locked tightly behind bars, unable to break free. Just like those prisoners listening to Paul and Silas, I too was set free from my prison cell through the prayers and singing of others.

A group of young women, passionate for Jesus, invited me to a Bible Study. They talked with Jesus and they sang songs to Jesus. As I sat in that Bible Study, watching their faces light up as they prayed and sang, I realized that I wanted what they had. I was tired of being a prisoner to my baggage from the past. As I sat in that circle of fellowship with the Lord I was set free. My prison doors flew open and my chains came loose!

My prayer is that one day someone will hear me praying and singing to the Lord and that the Lord will set them free from their prison cell and chains, just as He did me!

Until next time blessings and healing
