I am confident that the Creator, who has begun such a great work among you, will not stop in mid-design but will keep perfecting you until the day Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, returns to redeem the world.
Philippians 1:6 The Voice

I was on my walk the other day when I came to this sculpture in the little park behind the Wellness Center.  My first thought when I looked at it was, “Why the heck didn’t they finish painting the dolphins grey?  Why paint all of them except one?”

I kept walking, but that one unpainted dolphin really bugged me.  It is one of my pet peeves when people start projects, but don’t finish them.  As I walked on, I kept running the question of why they hadn’t painted all the dolphins through my head.

Then I felt like the Lord spoke to me about the dolphin statue being a lot like me…a work in progress.  That there are parts of me that are still unpainted by Him because He isn’t finished with me, yet.  He is constantly painting in different areas in my life changing me piece by piece.  That in His perfect timing He will complete His painting of me.  Just like in time the final dolphin in the statue will be painted.

As He continued speaking to me, I realized that is okay if there are parts of me that aren’t perfectly painted.  Because, God’s Word promises us that He isn’t going to stop perfecting us mid-design.  He isn’t going to leave us unfinished.  He is simply painting and perfecting us in His timing.  And He will continue to work in our lives until Jesus comes back.

So, if you are like me and get frustrated at the things in your life that seem unfinished or incomplete, remember we are works in progress.  God is still painting in our lives and that we will be His masterpieces (Ephesians 2:10) in His perfect timing.

Until next time blessings and healing
